Default The word "obesity"

The word obesity is thrown around a lot nowadays in mainstream culture. One of my ex's use to hate that term. She would tell me that she would rather people call her a whale than obese. That's how ugly she said the word obese was.

Obese is a word definitely used in a strongly negative way. Yet, I can't help but, get turned on whenever i hear that word. I guess it comes from me getting excited hearing that word on TV since it meant I would get to watch some hot SSBBWs on a news report, talk show or documentary.

Years ago fat activists reclaimed the word fat. Do you think the same can be done for obese? Probably not, but whenever i hear some fat hater go off on the so-called "obesity epidemic" I feel like loudly proclaiming, OBESITY IS SEXY!

I dislike "obese". For one thing, it's a word used to give the legitimacy of medical authority to fat bigotry and subjective assessments.

I also just hate the way it sounds. xP it's a grey, lumpy, tasteless sort of word.

Yes, "morbidly obese" is a bit much, why not "chronic" like they use for heart disease. They can call me what they want, my feeling of self-worth is not contingent on others opinions, but don't be offended if I call you something right back!

Friend and I use it a LOT during fat sexy talk. We both love it in the context of talking about weight gain because it denotes being beyond just fat.

Like anything else, it's a matter of personal taste. I would not use it if I did not know for certain the BHM in question was getting off on it.

I don't like it either, don't think I've ever used it before during play or describing someone.

I like Tooz's answer, Fat works just fine

I prefer fat too, it can be used more descriptively than obese.

A little fat.
On the fat side.
Fat.
Pretty fat.
Wicked fat.

Embonpoint is a good word too. I also like Rubenesque and Corpulent. The one syllable words are best though, fat, big and huge.

You have to be careful with these words though, they're often taken as insults no matter what your intent.

I think of the Super Mario Brothers movie when I hear corpulent.

Fischer Stevens: "Was she corpulent, very corpulent?"

John Leguizamo: "No she was just kinda...round"

I prefer corpulent over obese though, sounds much better

Heh..."corpulent" makes me think of a fat, old rich guy with a monocle.

"Obese" makes me think of clinical trials.

Overall, "fat" is just a better everyday sort of word

'Corpulent' makes me think of 'corpse'... And 'obese' makes me think of eggs for some reason, and eggs make my stomach upset...

But 'fat' and 'squishy' sound very nice to me ^^

Default Etymology

My beef with the word is that it doesn't even refer to fat itself. Etymologically what it really means is "runaway eater", so I suppose a feeder might like the term for that reason, but the way it is used most often is with such a hostile tone. Fat at least can be taken neutrally, but I think most people hear "obese" and think of the morbid insinuations that are attached to it.

If I'm writing in a health sense, I generally use the word "adiposity", which actually does refer to body fat at least.

I hate the term obese when used in any anti-fat situation especially medical. However, sometimes.. in a sexual way, it can be hot. Context is everything.

As a card-carrying member of the Goth party, I'd have to say I really love the term "morbid obesity." Makes me think of carrying off Vampira to my dungeon and fattening her up.

"Obesity"= a false medicalisation of body size... i.e. It's pure BS... And widespread focus on "obesity" at the expense of direct health indicators = bad for people health wise. Plus its an ugly mealymouthed word. "Fat" says it quicker, stronger and better! IMO

"Obesity" doesn't really strike me as a sexy word. I'm not offended by it or anything either. For me it's just a term, like "sales rep." It doesn't represent anything negative unless it's being used that way.

Chronological issues aside, I'd tap that like a keg during spring break. Between Taft, Grant and Teddy Roosevelt, we have had some hot daddy-bear presidents. Can I get a wut wut.

I became curious over the word "obese" while I was doing medical transcribing as a side job with a friend back in 1995. Man oh man, what doctors say behind closed doors.
