Oh well I guess they would prefer you post an ad in the matching system if you want to find someone.

A new size positive social group is starting up in Toronto (the previous one {Curvacious} has been retired)

The new group is called Club Attitude it's new website is here http://www.clubattitude.net

Their first kick off event : Club Attitude BBW party is on Saturday April 17th @ the Eton House ,710 Danforth Ave, Toronto, Doors open at 9:30pm
it is a19 + Event with a $10 Cover Charge , The host is marvelous this should be a great event.

Come on out

Here is the Mission statement:
Club Attitude is all about, well, ATTITUDE!

Club Attitude is the new size acceptance club in Toronto, Canada. It continues where previous BBW clubs, like Plus Size Planet and Curvacious, left off - creating a safe environment for plus sized people and their admirers. Now, Club Attitude does one thing different than other BBW clubs, it opens up its doors to anyone who has the right attitude.

So what is the right attitude? It is the attitude that says you are ready to have a fantastic time with great people. The attitude that says you are comfortable in your own skin, or maybe more importantly, want to be. It is the attitude that says that your size does not limit the fun you have.

Join us at Club Attitude - where you are accepted for who you are, and you can just be yourself!

well first off i hate clubs in general, theyre one of the most unpersonal and, well unrealistic way to meet someone when youre actually looking for a relationship. Also, how do you think you'll succeed where your old group failed? curvacious was built on the ashes of other groups :S this one wont be any different lol

Siegfried563, I'm going to try to and say this as nicely as possible. Please know that I am not writing this with any malice or sarcasm.

But you get what you put out. And generally people don't want to be around other people who are negative. You have already written off "Club Attitude" because other similar clubs failed? Wow....so only endeavours that succeed right out of the gate are valuable? Maybe the other clubs were missing an important element? Maybe this one will be the one that succeeds where others have failed. If everyone gave up because of previous failures, well good grief man! Where would we be? Sitting in the dark, in the dirt and crawling on our hands an knees!! Okay, maybe an exageration..but seriously. I watch my daughter learning new things everyday. IF she gave up because of a few falls, she would never learn to walk. Maybe an oversimplification but I think it holds true.
I would much rather talk to someone who sees possiblities than someone who only ever focuses on problems.
Clubs may not be your scene, but what methods are you using currently to meet people? Are you happy with the results?
I am sorry if this is a rambling post, but such negativity really is depressing.

......all righty, that was a bit much. The only point i was trying to make is that if you have the same business run by the same type of people youre generally going to wind up with the same results and as for me personally, I just dont like clubs, i dont like the type of people you meet there or the loud music or any of the rest of it, how is it negative for me to not enjoy that type of scene?

I really meant the headline: that you're both right, in a sense.

ON THE ONE HAND: I completely identify with the sentiment about clubs. I also don't like clubs. Why would i go into a dark noisy club, where i won't be able to have an intelligent civil conversation, just superficial nods or shouts, where i can't really see who i am meeting, where i am additionally constrained by other kinds of social pressures... Okay, me too, i dislike clubs.

ON THE OTHER HAND: we hate clubs, understood. We're all free to go where we wish; but don't disrespect other peoples' choices, by offering an opinion about something you already hate. It's tough enough to get a new business going without negativity. I think that's where the criticism is coming from. If you hate chocolate bars, surely the discussion about the merits of a particular brand should be left to those who actually tasted the chocolate, right? If I were promoting my new chocolate bar, and someone pipes up about how crappy chocolate is, i might take issue.

Now if on the other hand, you're proposing to offer positive feedback, in the hopes of making the club improve on previous clubs and possibly give you what you previously missed? well that might be useful, and dare i say, more positive? ( i think she had a point)

Normally I wouldn't get into a Canada event thread, but I felt compelled, after reading the OP, and subsequent posts.

I'm in a relationship with someone from Hamilton. I live in New Jersey. We didn't meet in Canada or NJ, we met at a bash in Massachusetts years ago. We were friends long before we ever dated.

I drive to Canada 2 weekends a month. When Curvacious ran, we attended those events. She doesn't dance, but we'd go to the dances anyway. Why? Pretty simple, it was the comfort of having like minded people around you.

I'd say this, in looking for a relationship, whether something meaningful or just a "hookup", you need to be in places where people are who think the same way as you. Even if you're not into the bar scene, you can buy a pop, and look at the big girls or guys, until you meet someone who strikes your fancy.

Supporting Club Attitude by showing up only ensures that there will always be a place where you can find people who might just be into the same things you are. I know I'll be at their first, and future events. It's run by good people, and I want to support it.

It's worth a shot for you too, in my opinion.

Look dude, you took a shot at the people who go to the events. Many of them are friends of mine. Of course I'm going to get defensive.

I support my local club by going to events, which is more than you do. Now put up or shut up.

*sigh* youre really making a great case for why someone would never ever want to go to such events, you realize that right? I've met some pretty rude people in my life but after only two posts you've quickly made it up that list, congratulations

Well this isn't My club. My partner and I will be patrons just as we were for the previous one.

I know the person who will be running this one is very personable and has some good ideas, and deserves the chance to make them possible.

The previous group didn't fail. My understanding is that the organizers have had to take on new responsibilities and with the changing circumstances could no longer devote to time needed to properly run the events.
You are of course not obligated to go to events like this.
There will probably be some non "club" based activities in the future.
It is just one possibility of meeting people in a social venue.
Good luck. I hope you find what you are looking for.

Hi there! Welcome to Toronto!

There are, indeed, other non-club events in Toronto for people of size and their admirers. There's a group called Toronto BBWs & BHMs & Admirers on a general fetish site called FetLife and we're starting to get a series of bi-monthly (that is, 2x a month) munches (munch = meet for lunch. Think of it as a meetups.) started. They're very casual... people meet, eat, and talk in a relaxed environment. (We used to meet at a Tim Hortons, but now we're starting to meet in a multi-use space. It's used as a fetish club sometimes, but when we meet there, all the lights are on, there's no music and there's a number of couches in a circle... think living room, not bar or club. We're doing it as a potluck.) Since we're just getting started, we're a small group, but we're slowly growing.

Anyway, we're trying to schedule our next munch for an evening from April 20th on. We'd love to have your input as to when would work best for you and we hope you come!

I didn't yell... IF I TYPED IN CAPS, IT WOULD BE YELLING.

You don't seem to get the point. You put down an event/organization and insult the people who attend it and expect people to just say poor lonely boy.

first off, im not a boy. Secondly, i used yell to represent the tone you were taking since im pretty sure youd have been yelling had this been in person. Also, when did i ever expect people to feel sorry for me!? and more importantly how sad are YOU that you have to keep trying to put me down when you have no hope of succeeding, youre nothing more than a screenname on my computer, you're never going to affect me

I'm sure you probably wouldn't like them because you don't know them, and since you wouldn't like them you would more than likely insult the people that are going because obviously they just aren't your kind of people anyway. Then you'll surely malign that group too.

Lol... You have to be a special level of douche bag to get me to yell... You haven't achieved that, yet. I notice you just focus on me being "rude" instead of addressing the offending comments you have made.

BTW you can't delete your account. You do have the option to not come back though.

Just a note...neither Plus Size Planet or Curvacious failed. In both cases, the organizers decided to move on, and focus on other endeavours in their lives. Both groups were quite successful. I'm sure Club Attitude will be as well, and it will have my support.

Very true. I don't know the individuals in this case, but usually people who get into this kind of thing aren't doing it for the money (same with restaurants, bars etc), because the profit margin is narrow, and the commitment and work required are huge. You do it because you love it, and then at a certain point may decide you want to do something else.

Closure does not = failure.
