Ok so going from another thread I am curious what things attract you to or do you want in a relationship??

Ie what do you look for or what most attracts you to someone

Having said that, I somewhat believe personality goes along with that. Not so much that it has to be one that I find riveting, but that we connect well, and enjoy each others company. To me it's the framework for everything else to fall in place.

Then again, they probably wouldn't stray far from the paysite boards, so yeah, more than likely they wouldn't have even noticed the poll in the first place.

Do you know what I miss about being in a relationship? Being able to sit around doing absolutely nothing with someone, and it's still the best part of the week.

For me, I don't need any kind of money or security in any material way in a relationship. I was brought up in a family that was always under the poverty line. Even resorting to soup kitchens and the like. I know how to go without and still feel emotion. Not many do, though.

Also... looks are temporary. What I find attractive is also extremely varied. Someone with an amazing personality who can look average gets wayyy more good looking once they show their fun side. Personality really trumps looks. And when you're old and wrinkly, personality is what is going to keep you in love after 50 years together.

So I want a true partnership. And to me, that means a best friend but better. Not meaning best friend with benefits, but best friend with better connection.

I could even go a life without sex with a partner so long as the bond was strong enough. It's really about connecting on a deeper level and that connection being strong enough to withstand the test of time.

Money and security is nice. I like having it now that we have a family but my husband and i have been through some serious poor parts of our lives. We just buckled down and weathered it. He is my true partner. We make most decisions in our lives as a team, even little things like buying some new shoes. I would have also clicked personality since his personality is a perfect compliment to mine. The things that I'm lacking, he has and vice versa.

I think often when we have less we can be happier because we dont feel the need to keep up with the joneses and it forces us to become more creative with what we do have

and Meagan I think being able to get through the tough times either makes or breaks a relationship that you have gotten through it shows a ton of strength and bucketloads of love may we all be so lucky

It is far better to be happy and compatable and broke than miserable/mistreated and secure in my books

I'm greedy - I want it all. I don't need a guy to be rich - but he should be gainfully employed. Looks - he doesn't have to be dashingly handsome, but someone that i like to look at. As for what I want, there wasn't really a specific answer to choose from so I selected all of the above. I want honesty, monogamy and good chemistry. Simple. But if I'm being a shallow chick, I want him to be tall and have fabulous hair.

I think a true partnership is important, mutual love and respect and facing life's challenges together.
I want warmth and caring and humor from a man, and I would give that in return.

However having said that I believe financial security is important for a woman.
A man having a home and financial resources is important.

It sounds very nice and sentimental to say all that does not matter, but it really does.

I am not talking obscene wealth, but being comfortable and having the things that you need and would like in your life.

Of course I would expect to contribute to that as well, within my capacity to do so.

This is my favorite response My parents were mostly middle class, but we had some hard financial times and they were frugal anyway (we were totally country bumpkins too). My sisters and I learned to appreciate very little. I can get by on very little still...

I agree with you pretty much on all of it, except what I bolded. I don't think I could manage that (however, I would not leave someone over issues of that nature... be it medical, mental, emotional, etc. I am a very committed person and know that relationships are hard work period... you have to relish the good and get through the bad...people give up too easily IMO)
