Default Dips and Sauces....or even just plain dipping sauces!

McDonalds has a new dipping sauce for their nuggets called Sweet Chili.

It's fantastic! A whole new flavor that is a nice change from the usual.

Any good sauce discoveries to share? Good dips?

Recipes? Food combo ideas?

Crystal is in love with the new Buffalo sauce but I'm sticking with my trusty ole Sweet and Sour.

I saw that one too! But worried it might be too hot- is it hot or just a bit spicy?

If you normally like spicy stuff or Buffalo style food its not to bad, if you don't like hot stuff or stuff thats heavy on the hot sauce you might have a problem. It's not super hot but it has a very Texas Pete style vinegary hotness.

My favourite dip by far for almost everything is crumbled blue cheese (usually Stilton or Saint Agur) with sour cream, mayo and black pepper

Not fond of bleu cheese but that sour cream, mayo and black pepper certainly peeks my interest!

Kraft Seven Seas Green Goddess dressing. It's my go-to dip for nearly everything. Not easily found in my area either, sometimes a bestie from another state ships a few bottles to me when I whine for it. lol

They sell it on Amazon, and now I'm seeing it at Kroger or Publix (can't remember which).

Speaking of a different sort of Goddess, Annie's Goddess dressing is delicious -- very zingy and great on lots of foods. It's more of a Tahini-based dressing.

For quick dinners, I love tossing steamed veggies with a smidgen of sauce (exotic or commonplace) -- not much, just a few drops to add snap. A1, for example, does wonders with its hints of orange rind, raisins, and spices.

Any of those powdered envelopes are fab mixed with plain (greek!) yogurt, instead of sour cream. Usually cheaper and better for you if you go low/non-fat, and I really don't taste a difference.

My current favorite is ranch dressing made from the mix, with buttermilk. Bottled ranch is so disappointing after having some made from the mix, i pretty much don't eat it unless it's the only choice.

Here's a really tasty dip:

1/2 packet fiesta ranch dip
couple tbsp sour cream
can of refried beans

Mix well. The amount of sour cream will depend upon your preferred texture.

I'm also all about rotel dip

1 roll hot breakfast sausage-browned and drained
block of velveeta
2 cans rotel

I also use taco meat and sometimes I'll add a 1/2 block of cream cheese for a change

I found a bottle of Green Goddess in the Super Walmart a couple of months ago.

You sausage dip reminds me of one a lady I work with told me how to make:

Crumbled browned breakfast sausage
I can Rotel tomatoes
2 packs cream cheese

Brown sausage and add the other two ingredients- keep it warm while eating. Yum!

Also learned how to make pizza dip from another lady at work.

Spread two packages of cream cheese in the bottom of a baking dish and coat with Italian spice mix. Then dump a jar of pizza sauce on it, add pepperoni slices across the top of that and then sprinkle parmesan cheese on top of it all.
Microwave for six minutes and scoop it up with pita chips- oh boy!

I love this stuff. I use it on almost anything. It's a bit like Burger King's Zesty Sauce (which I use a lot, as well )

Country Sweet is probably my favorite. It started as a Rochester thing. It's basically like sweet & sour wing sauce but better. I put it on chicken, ribs, pizza.. everything.

Attachment 97248

A close second, also made in Rochester, is Boss Sauce:

Attachment 97249

I also eat honey mustard & bleu cheese with pretty much everything.

I like to doctor up bottled ranch dressing with some Louisiana hot sauce...especially good with chicken nuggets or tater tots.

If you like hot stuff, and I mean face meltingly, gut churningly hot, you should try Famous Dave's Insanity Sauce. My dad brought some back from a business trip and offered Crystal and I some. I don't eat really hot stuff so I declined but Crystal decided to try some. He shook the bottle, removed the lid, dipped the tip of a butter knife in the wet spot inside the lid, wiped half of that off, and then placed a tiny drop of this stuff on Crystal tongue. Her face instantly turned red and she began to sweat, she also drank about a half gallon of water in the next few minutes. Two hours later she said her mouth was still hot. You too can enjoy this oral torment thanks to Amazon.com

I've avoided Dave's Insanity for that very reason. I like hot.. and sometime intensely hot.. but..

I bought my brother the hurtin' habenero and original insanity sauce. He makes a whole pot of soup and just a few drops in it and it's too spicy for most people.
This is a guy who sautees up various hot peppers for his famous bean dip that evacuate the whole house so we could actually breathe without coughing. We say he has a cast iron stomach.

This is a copy-and-paste from: http://www.chilliworld.com/FactFile/Scoville_Scale.asp which shows peppers and pepper sauces according to the Scoville Scale. I've bolded where Dave's Insanity fits on the list, and the hottest pepper sauce I've had (Blair's After Death). There's quite a difference between the two, and my avoidance of Dave's Insanity will continue. Makes regular Tabasco look pretty tame.

I dip almost anything in ranch dressing lol Warm dinner rolls dipped in blue cheese is awesome! Ketchup-mayo mix is really good for fries or potato chips.

My friends mom made a dip with sour cream, cream cheese, powdered bullion (she used beef) and garlic powder and something else I'm forgetting lol but it was great!

For parties I like to do the cream cheese and salsa one- on the bottom of a glass pie pan spread a layer of cream cheese, spread salsa over that and then a layer of shredded cheddar and microwave it til its melty and have it with corn chips oh so good!

OH and I like to mix horsheradish (from the jar) with cottage cheese for triscuits.

I had one more I wanted to talk about but cant remember. I really love dipping stuff lol

Also..pampered chef makes fantastic dipping sauces

I am such a sauce girl. I use mustard a lot, especially honey mustard. I also love the marshmallow sauce they use at Friendly's. I want to put that on everything!
