So I've been lurking for a while now, and I finally decided to post
![]() My whole life I've been wanting to gain weight, although up until ~2 years ago I've been underweight. Now at 6ft and 170 I'm actually on track. My goal is to reach 250-300. The questions I have for anyone interested are such: How can I best contribute to this forum? How fast is "too fast"? I've been going about 1500 calories per day over (according to MYFITNESSPAL) and I know that's above most dietary reccomendations. Anyone here in Texas? |

I recall reading on body building websites that eating 500-1000 calories over the recommended daily amount is about right.
I would probably start with just an extra 500 calories over and see if you get any results. |

I'm in Arlington.
Oh, and after about 5 weeks of 4000+ calories per day, nothing. Nada. No difference. What gives? |

There are soo many things to factor in lifestyle your metabolism.
We are all different so it might take you longer or shorter to gain. No set rule as to just how many calories a day it will take you to gain X amount of weight. No magic pill or weight gain super powder. Gaining takes time and is a slow process, just eat what you want and increase your portions everyday and you should see your weight go up. Just take your time and don't expect too much too quickly. The what gives part you mentioned is at this time your body is trying to decide what its going to do with all those extra calories. Once your metabolism adjusts to the extra calories then you will see a change. Its not rocket science eat more= gain weight.Just not too rapidly for some people. It took me 7 years to gain 250 lbs +so I do know what I am talking about. At first I started binge eating and drinking those weight gain shakes which were awful to say the least. It was six months and I saw very little weight gain maybe 5-6 lbs.I was going to give up trying. I just kept over eating and with in a couple of months I saw the pounds sticking to me. So best thing I can say is don't give up if you see no change right away just stick with it. Last edited by Tracii : 05-12-2012 at 10:12 AM. |

One cool thing you can do is take lots of pics to document your gain.
We all love to look at WG pics.I do at least. ![]() |
