In Need of Hair Ideas!

Please help!

I've gone a year-ish with growing my hair out and it's starting to really annoy me. My hair is my natural colour, and it's about 10 inches long everywhere. It sits about 2 inches past my shoulders.

I had cut it to half an inch back in July, and cut an inch and a half off in December. Now I'm in search of something good to do with my hair for the summer, and because I've gone so long without doing anything that it's making me really angry.

Now... I have VERY thick hair. Lots of strands, and the strands themselves are bulky on their own. I'm also basically broke. So going to a stylist and getting a million things done to my hair at once is out of the question.

But now I'm stuck.

I loved my short hair. But everyone's going to get mad if I cut it. Truth be told, I only grew it out to please everyone else. Now I'm very much not happy with it.

So... short hair IS an option. But keeping my length and doing something cool with it is also an option. I just don't know WHAT to do.

But, honestly, I'm too "dark" to ever pull it off. Naturally jet black hairs everywhere and my skin and eyes are dark as well. Dying my brows to match it is easy, but I can't dye my skin or change my eye colour.

So... any help? Please?

Could you get a cut in the style you've linked to but keep your colour?

I could get a similar but slightly shorter cut. Wouldnt be much different than what I have now. I really want colour but brown and black is insanely boring.

Are there any beauty schools near you? You can usually get color (and cut) done there for a fraction of the cost at a salon. Like you, I have VERY dark, VERY thick hair and lots of it. I went completely blonde a few years ago, when it was well past my shoulders. It took a triple process and cost me $120 at the beauty school -- it would've cost many, many, many times that at a salon.

The problem with going so light is the maintenance. Your roots will show very quickly (for me, within a week I could notice them and within 2 weeks, others could notice them) so you have to go back for touch-ups all the time.

Heavy highlights would be less expensive and easier to maintain. They aren't as obvious when growing out.

From you older pics I remember, I thought you looked fabulous with short hair - it suited you perfectly and brought out a very distinct personality.

If I also remember correctly, you're pretty short (.... not a problem for us girls...) which can be tricky with long, abundant hair

So if you felt comfortable, like yourself with it - then cut it back off, no matter what everybody says.

You rock the short style!

I did go light blonde two summers ago and loved it. Because ai can do coloring on short hair myself, I only spent 20$ to get the bleach and color. Was much better.

I do miss my short hair and have only been growing it out to please others. I definitely want short hair again. I just dont know if I shhould wait til after wedding season.
