You know, I always use butterflies for my draws. I got in the habit when doing babies and just kept it up and have found that my patients say it hurts much less that way. Actually I can get blood draws very well, probably since I've been working on babies for so long; it's the IV starts that're tough for me. And my experience with docs is pretty much the same as yours. I sure understand the pitfalls they have to deal with. But this guy? Has crossed the line of just a harried, hurried doc and has gone deep into asshole territory.

Oh and my gynie? Gay as the day is long (and it being an Alaskan summer, that's pretty freakin' long). Best gynie EVAH. He's smart as a whip, very empathetic, funny as hell, and loves women (just not in "that" way). I adore him. He's the only man (besides my sweetie) who I trust my girlie bits to.

sorry not a felon. my record is sqeaky clean. not even a parking ticket is on it. closes thing to a felony act i ever done was hacking but since all the hacking i do is only to online multiplayer games i cant be arrested for it.

But threatening a judge is against the law -- that's what he was talking about -- and something they take very seriously. I think that's what everyone was referring to, the violent threats you made, even asking for an address. It's bad juju.

Here's an interesting site in regard to this issue, on a blog belonging to a practicing pcp. Many of the comments are they same old tripe, but if you keep reading, you'll find some interesting posts, especially one including an article about this guy which contains this quote: "There's polling by NPR of middle-aged men. What do you like in a woman?" Bennett said. "And obesity isn't on the list except as a negative, only favored a little bit by black men." His brother-in-law jumps in to come to his defense, even.

I wonder how long it would take me to get an appt with this guy?

I think that his comments were rude and terribly inappropriate. His bedside manner is horrific. If I were even slightly inclined to listen to medical advise, it would be professionally delivered and with respect for my feelings. Telling me that I need to lose weight because I wouldn't otherwise be attractive to men is an ill-informed & hateful opinion, not sound medical advise.

Having said that, I think that this should not have been a matter for the medical board & definitely not for the Attorney General's office. I'm glad that this case was publicized, because the doctor in question certainly deserves all the bad press (and hopefully, the corresponding drop in business) that he's received.

We deal with ignorant, ill-informed opinions from "friends", coworkers, employers, and strangers all the time. We can't sue them (or if we did, we'd be laughed out of the courtroom). I just don't believe that this doctor should be held to a different standard, simply because he's a doctor.

And I'm speaking as a woman who *has* been subjected to humiliating remarks by so-called medical "professionals". If one were to dare to speak to me in a less than courteous manner now, he/she would be firmly educated - but I wouldn't complain to the medical board. If they had to investigate every claim of a poor bedside manner, I'd guess that half the doctors in existence would lose their licenses.

We need to complaint to someone like the New Hampsire Board of Medicine and Judge Edward Fitzgerald!
