Default Share snacks, food, your current eating endeavors. Let's talk food. I like food.

Inspired by recent discussions of eggnog, cakes, crepes, and slurries of unidentifiable matter, I am curious as to what you are snacking on.

Basically I would like to use this thread to steal food ideas.

I will start! I have just finished eating a plate of Carmelitas. I have no idea if that's a real name or not, but I got the recipe from here:
http://www.bakerita.com/carmelitas/

They are super tasty. If you love yourself, you will make some.

I can't say I have ever had a candy cane cheesecake. Is it mint flavored and colored to look like candy cane or does it actually have candy cane candy in it?

I was going to crush those mini candy canes into the mix and bake it that way, don't know if it will work but that's what a good cook does right? Experiment.

Sounds like a plan to me. You should make one and post pics!

I feel all low brow. But lately I've just been craving good homemade fries, and the world's most racist condiment, Samurai sauce. I like the Belgian version of it, as well as the tweaked version my bistro uses. (By tweaked, I mean they blend mayonnaise and Sriracha hot sauce, so fancy, lawl.)

I've been cooking like crazy lately. Pecan sticky buns, chicken casserole, pecan tassies, candy cane snowballs, M&M cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies....I love making baked goods.

Things I have been enjoying of late...

For those in the UK, M&S are doing a wonderful orange hot chocolate in cafe revive - closest thing I've had to the old Starbucks Mocha Valencia I last enjoyed in Hong Kong.

Chocolate cream in Starbucks (they seem to offer it to regulars on any drink you like in my local).

Otherwise...Turkish delight (as ever..), speculoos spread in sandwiches (like the biscuits, but crunchy spread!), chicken ciabatta with BBQ sauce and cheese (surprisingly good idea from the village pub), tinned mandarins (so much better than fresh fruit, lol!). And I've re-discovered fruit sherberts, thanks to a gorgeous reader who has been encouraging me to break my Reading Room rules and eat sweets. The purple and red ones are the best! And I can't resist him either!

We got our first box of chocolates for the holidays here at work.

My first pick was the Pink Himalayas Salted Chocolate Carmel. It was heavenly!

My mother made a batch of welsh cakes yesterday...truly the food of the gods and the greatest accompaniment to a cup of tea ever invented.

Shall be cooking tomorrow with my niece...it's time for pizza madness. Time to load it with meats and cheeses.

King prawns, mussels and a creamy chili corriander sauce, sticky rice = happy Aiden. I'm not gonna lie as of late my cooking skill has been up there with the best. All meals for one though,(sympathy vote) but at least they have all been tasty as feck.

Bought the ingredients for 4 new Christmas cookie recipes to try out this year:

- Orange butter cookies with white chocolate champagne filling

- Almond shortbread stuffed with poppy seed & rum raisins

- Pate brisée rolled up with a filling of caramelized walnuts & cherries

- Oatmeal crunchies with dark chocolate & cranberries

It's always interesting to see which one makes it onto the list of 'must bake again' or turns into a standard....

I'm eating 86% Cacao Intense Dark Chocolate.

I also Googled Welsh Cakes and now I really want to try some.

They are utterly awesome. And easy to make, too. You just need flour, butter, currants and sugar....and a flat griddle pan to cook them on.

As for dark chocolate, I've been enjoying Lindt Excellence 90% lately...probably the most intense chocolate hit I've ever had...and surprisingly a health food, which kind of takes the fun out of it.
