Tammie and Robert

My Name: Tammie (tammera@informix.com)
Hubby's name: Robert

We met in January '96 on AOL. At first we didn't really talk much, maybe a few times online and an occasional phone call. Very soon after we met online I stopped using AOL altogether, however we kept in touch on the phone and email.

In March of '96 I mentioned to Robert about NAAFA's National Convention in New Orleans. Since Robert lived in Alabama, which is only hours away via car, I invited to meet me there. From that moment until the convention in early July, we talked on the phone alot, getting to know one another. We learned about each other and the tough times we had faced in life. Needless to say there was a alot of common ground. We exchanged pictures and email, too.

After months of waiting we finally met in person at the New Orleans International Airport. He had been waiting for my flight to arrive, and when we saw each other for the first time he kneeled before me like a gentleman. (G) Our first kiss was within five minutes of meeting. It was then that I knew we belonged together.

The six days of the convention were magical and dreamlike. Robert had proposed on the second day. I knew then that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.

After we parted from each other, which I might add was hellish on us both, I invited him to stay with me in California for a month. I wanted to be sure that we were truly compatible. Ultimately, we were. :) And at the end of that month we once again parted, with alot of crying and sadness. However, we were not apart very long because we missed each other too much and couldn't stand to be apart.

In early September Robert drove from north Alabama all the way across country to northern California in under three days to spend his life with mine. Less than a week into our new life together, we discovered that we were pregnant. We were so happy.

We had already planned to get married, and on November 18, 1996 we tied the knot in Reno. But, that wasn't the only joyous occasion in our life to date. On May 22, 1997, Victoria Dawn was born and brought even more love into our happy lives (along with sleepless nights and messy diapers (G)).

As our daughter grows, so does our love, stronger and stronger each day.
