The great white north, eh?
I normally do at least a bit of core exercises every day, and today was my most hated, curl-ups. For whatever reason I actually craned my head to look at my body while doing it today, and saw a very distinct ridge down the middle of my upper abdomen. A bit of googling suggests that it is diastasis recti -- basically the muscles on the two sides of the abdomen not bonding in the middle, letting innards bulge outwards. It seems to occur most often with pregnant women but can occur with others, and in causes with men they particularly mentioned high amounts of abdominal fat (which I certainly have).

In the short term I'll avoid crunches and curl ups, and take up some of the exercises I've seen mentioned for helping deal with the issue, and then see what happens. I may eventually talk to my health provider about it. (I have no idea how long I've had it, I only noticed it while doing that one thing, and normally I look at the ceiling while doing it, so who knows?)

But I was wondering if anyone here has had it diagnosed, and blamed on their abdominal fat? If so, did you have any treatment or just live with it?
