Switzerland had election day yesterday. The result was that the left and right both lost seats while "the new middle" gained seats (there are 8 parties that have meaningful numbers of seats in the House and Senate).

What riled a good number of people was an illustration of the political landscape that was actually included in the official election brochure. The "election cake" showed the left-leaning Green Party as being conservative, which that party objected to. So they researched things a bit and found that the graphics people had worked with two layers and improperly scaled the one with the color dots on, making the Greens look more conservative than they said they are. The publishers, though, took exception to that explanation and pointed at most voting results where the Greens usually voted conservative.

Interesting also the overall concept with left/right/liberal/conservative.
