Memories of the 2009 Dimensions Bash

Where does one find out about upcoming bashes? Anyone know if any anywhere? Does DIMS still organize them? Would appreciate any tips!

So sorry to hear of this loss to the community. I didn't know her but am touched by how admired and supportive she was to so many. RIP

    This is just to say

Just wanted to express my gratitude to this forum and its members for giving me a community where I can connect around FA issues. Dims has been really important for me in embracing this beautiful part of myself. Wishing you all a beautiful day!

Has anyone else met an F/FA in real life?

I'm an FA and have met up with another FA member of this forum IRL. Once. Before covid. We connected here because we had similar experiences coming to accept our preferences and were both in relationships with partners who were not fat and trying to figure out what to do. Anyway, it was just as...

Anyone else deal with post nut shame?

I agree with LJ here. There is a good book about fat and sexuality (the only one I've ever found, actually) and it includes a chapter on gaining/encouraging which touches on precisely the issue you mentioned. The book is called "The Round World" by Dan Oliverio. Might be of interest to you if...

Root origin of my attraction to fat women: figured it out

@Sonic Purity Thanks for posting, and thanks for sharing your insights! I can relate to a good deal of what you and others have shared. I need to process my own experience but will try to formulate it on here in the days/weeks to come. As LJ said, I think all of us in this community have our...

Sorry to hear about this experience, Geese. Too bad she took it that way.

    Fatphobic parents

Wow, thanks OP! I can reeeeeally relate to this. I'm not sure where to begin--should I list all the memories I have of my parents or other family members making fat-shaming comments about others? Or their negative comments about the women I found attractive? Or their comments about a girl I...

Article about "Body Neutrality," its Pros and Cons

I think you're probably right that it might not take hold for the vast majority of people. This may sound cynical, but it seems that people who are not part of an affected community are pretty slow to embrace ideas, practices, principles, etc., that support that community.

Article about "Body Neutrality," its Pros and Cons

I hear you, @carib, thanks for your post. I also don't like to equate or compare groups, identities or peoples' struggles. Would be interested if you find anything when you check out the fat activists.

Article about "Body Neutrality," its Pros and Cons

I think you make a good point--certainly easier in a hypothetical environment. My sense is that body neutrality might be useful for a person having trouble accepting their body, and who thus isn't in a place to embrace or love it, as the article suggests body positivity encourages. It might not...

Article about "Body Neutrality," its Pros and Cons

I really like the way you summed this up, @agouderia, and totally agree that weight, body shape and size should be relegated to the strictly private sphere.

Article about "Body Neutrality," its Pros and Cons

Body neutrality is one way to reject diet culture. Here's what that means.

Letting someone gain on their own

Thanks for the thread and to the other posters. One thing I've read on this forum and have experienced myself is to praise her body, to show her that you are really attracted to her chubbiness/belly/thighs etc. This has boosted my SO's confidence. Interestingly enough, she has gained weight and...
