    Brexit. WTF?!

I'm a Brit and I don't get it. I'm appaulled and ashamed. The Leave campaign was very vocal, fear-mongering, making unrealistic claims and picking their "facts" very carefully whilst appealing to the everyday moron. I don't know where this right-wing 'look after ourselves and only ourselves'...

    Fat in med school

I'm a fat midwife, newly qualified. I was the fattest in my class and I am usually the fattest on shift, but not always. I was worried they wouldn't have uniform to fit me, but they did. The only thing they didn't have was scrubs to fit, so I bought my own. I could have insisted that the...

MOD NEEDED: Attempt to hack my account.

I had this as well, a couple of weeks ago. Just changed my password and have had nothing since but thought it was odd. Was on holiday at the time so forgot to mention it.

    Yes and yes, haha!

What are you happy about today?

Thanks, Tad! The jobs are each about an hour commute from where I am currently based/would like to be. Not that far, but the cost of petrol is a factor, as is facing an hour's drive home after a 12 hour shift/night shift. Not ideal but manageable for a year or so. My girlfriend (also a student...

    Summer 2015

Nice car, Surly! Until the end of July I was interviewing for jobs, trying to finish my dissertation and 3 other assignments, prepping for/taking an exam, attending placement at the hospital and trying to fit in time to go to my part-time job and see my girlfriend without having a nervous...

What are you happy about today?

I have a month left of my degree, 2 job offers and only 8 more babies to catch before I qualify. Yay :)

    What's pissing you off today?

    We all need that, haha!

    What's your favorite potato dish/

I love colcannon (isn't it irish??), but I've never had it with cheese on, or baked in the oven. When I make it, it's just mashed potato with lots of butter, milk (/cream :eat2:) and salt & pepper, and then the sauteed onion and cabbage is just stirred in. Not sure if that's the authentic way...

What are your plans for this summer?!

I went once when I was young, to a different part of the island. But not since I was a child.

What are your plans for this summer?!

My girlfriend and I are going to Crete for a week of lying in the sun, swimming and pottering about. Can't wait! Apart from that I'll mostly be finishing up my degree, so lots of shifts (unpaid) and hopefully a few paid hours on the side. Other than that, mostly free activities - walks, sitting...

Australian comedian perfectly sums up why other countries think US gun laws are crazy

It's here: http://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/stats/Crime/Total-crime-victims One of the problems is the widely varying definitions within each of the categories. As daedal as mentioned, for example, what consitutes assault in the UK is very different to the US. Obviously there'll also...

Australian comedian perfectly sums up why other countries think US gun laws are crazy

That's fine if you want to look at skewed data. For starters, there are massive differences in how different countries categorise crime. I wouldn't be surprised if the UK did have a higher violent crime rate if you consider the definitions of violent crime: See also the varying definitions for...

    Your Wild Life

I live in the concrete jungle, so a squirrel is about as exciting as it gets around here, or the odd fox...or rat (eww!). My parents live nearer the countryside so there's a bit more wildlife there - rabbits, foxes, deer, ducks, badgers, hedgehogs etc.

What's on the dinner table tonight?

I have loads of veg to use, so tonight will be wholewheat pasta with courgettes, mange tout, peas, broccoli and mushrooms, bound together with some red pesto.

Australian comedian perfectly sums up why other countries think US gun laws are crazy

As a Brit, he totally summed up how my friends and I feel about the US' gun laws! The differences in how we think about this are so great though, it's just completely oposing views. I get what Tracii says about wanting to protect your family against intruders but here, the majority of intrusions...
