My fellow video game nerds, whatcha been playing? Part 2

It's canon; a direct prequel to Super Metroid, if I am correct (Either way, it is necessary for Fusion to have happened).

    comic book nerds UNITE!

I've been following Batman, Detective Comics, Green Lantern, Green Lantern : New Guardians, and Red Lanterns. Red Lanterns is pretty awful at the moment, but I'm holding onto it, anyway, as Atrocitus is a badass, and I'm hoping an interesting story comes out of him.

    Question for FA's

You believe human augmentation will not happen, or you believe immortality will not be achieved? Or, are you talking about mass telepathic communication?
  4. SuperBatAquaGreenFlash

    Question for FA's

I have no doubt that it would be interesting.

    Question for FA's

Not sure how that would factor into the singularity. I haven't seen shitting dick nipples in any of Kurzweil's predictions, anyway.

My fellow video game nerds, whatcha been playing? Part 2

In terms of characterization, it is crap, and a huge insult to longtime fans. As a game, though, it is a decent effort (I just wish there was more content, less linearity, and better enemy mechanics).

    Question for FA's

I posted in this thread to discuss what is more important, the body or the person; I just happened to use my philosophy to justify my stance (It's akin to discussing fat acceptance, for example, when explaining to another individual that he or she should not be ashamed of his or her body)...

    Question for FA's

As of now, I am a human with human desires. The technology to achieve transcendence does not exist, yet.
  9. SuperBatAquaGreenFlash

    Question for FA's

I wouldn't think those problems would apply to a being that is essentially the collective sum of all the information that was ever processed by human beings. I'd want it because it would mean that I wouldn't die (Of course, my sense of "self" or individuality would die, but my data would live...

    Studio Ghibli

With the launch of their most recent film, Arrietty, I thought I'd try to see who here are fans of what is arguably the greatest active animation studio in the world. What are your favourite Studio Ghibli films (Mine would have to be Princess Mononoke, Grave of the Fireflies, Howl's Moving...

    Question for FA's

At that point in time, you would have to decide which is more important to you: what is virtually immortality and infinite knowledge, or sexual pleasure? You would not be forced to assimilate, of course; forcing anyone into anything is quite wrong. But "standing against change" and bioluddism is...

Human Nature and the Will to Power

I'd like to hear some of your interpretations of the human experience and of what motivates us. How would you describe and quantify human nature? Do you believe the Nietzschean concept of the will to power is what drives human beings to action?

    Transformers 4

Dear sweet goodness no. This is especially shocking because, not too long ago, Bay was adamant about not returning for a fourth picture. While I enjoyed the first film of his, the second two were complete garbage, and serve to illustrate everything that is wrong about his directorial style; I...

    Question for FA's

Considering that we are at some point in the future going to abandon organic humanoid bodies for artificial, undying forums, loving one for his or her body and his or her body alone is love misplaced. There is nothing wrong with admiring physical traits, of course--I would not have signed up for...

    Transhumanism

I doubt that profit will be a motive for long. The capitalist system's days are numbered; I see some form of socialism (Likely anarchist communism/anarcho-syndicalism; maybe Marxism, but transitional states have had a nasty habit of devolving into state capitalism) inspiring the proletariat of...

    Political Compass

I've always found this little test fascinating. While it does not test you on every single issue, it's a pretty decent indicator of who you are, politically. http://www.politicalcompass.org/ Here is mine.

    Transhumanism

Fixed. I'm asking for your opinions so that we may discuss them. I disagree with the idea that transhumanism supports the coercive practice of eugenics, as I explained. Furthermore, I'm confused as to what you mean by "bioethics drawing from eugenics;" bioethics does draw from eugenics in that...

    Transhumanism

Modern transhumanism does not draw from the inherently coercive practice of eugenics, though. The vast majority of transhumanists are quite libertarian (Note: I'm using the traditional/original definition of "libertarian;" I am not referring to the right-wing American "libertarianism") and...
