    Fight the suck!

    Disable the insipid timeline!

This really does work. No joke, no lie, no kidding. It's a set of browser extensions for Firefox, Chrome, and IE that hacks the facebook page back to the old way. No more timeline crapola.

I like the timeline. I think it makes the page look more interesting in terms of the spacing of photos and posts.

    No fight from me.:)

Well that's cool. It stands to reason that some would approve. But for those who don't like it, there is now an alternative.

I haven't switched to the timeline, but I'll be keeping this thread handy just in case the timeline format becomes mandatory.

It's being rolled out to all FB users who don't voluntarily change. They'll get to you eventually.

I've luckily managed to escape the dreaded disease known as "Timeline" also. Don't know how, almost all my friends and family have it now, but will definitely be keeping this thread handy. Thank you SO much! [I shall rep thee when the rep lords allow me. :p]

I'm one of those lucky ones who didn't get hit by the timeline yet. I'll be keeping this thread handy for when they do hit me with it, though.

I don't really mind the timeline that much, but the fact that you have to look in zig zag and then at the middle to see what wa posted first... that can be a little annoying.

Good to know. I'll pass it on to any of my timeline-hating friends. I actually like it, especially the way it looks in mobile format.

Yeah, Timeline seems pretty legit to me, too. It's very organized compared to the old way.

Thank you, Dromond. I'll be keeping this. Although really, I'm weary of facebook in general. It's a toy, but a toy that can alter your chances of getting a job, destabilize romantic relationships, and cause family and friend drama. Some toy. If it were a cabbage patch kid, it'd be in the trash.

It's not facebook's fault people are dicks. If you hung out with them all at a bar every night, you'd see the same results.

I like the timeline, but I might pass this on to those friends of mine who don't.

I got weary of that, too. ;)
I don't know, maybe I'm just an asocial kook.

My biggest issue with facebook was when I started a new job. One of the associates kept pestering me to add her as a friend. I kept blowing her off. A few weeks later, one of my coworkers got a write up over a very vague work-related post she made (didn't mention the name of the company or complain about it, just stated that because of a personal problem, she'd have a hard time at work the next day). It turns out that the post made its way through the facebook chain back to the company facebook page. Ugh.

Facebook is free, and it can be a valuable tool to keep in touch with family and friends, hence no complaints from me regarding new additions to it's layout.

I guess if you were paying for the service you could have more of a say regaring its makeup.

There's also apps in Firefox and Chrome to get rid of the facebook news ticker if you don't enjoy that either.

Ah, but it's not free. You aren't paying any money out of pocket, but you pay through the advertising you are forced to view. You're not a customer to Facebook, but rather a commodity. You are the product the advertisers are buying.

Not if you use noScript along with AdBlock. ;) Haven't seen an ad on my page in a long time.

Oh ads are a thing of the past for me also. But we are freeloaders, and if everyone did what we do, Facebook would go bankrupt.

    *dusting the cobwebs*

How do you feel about Facebook now, after all these years?

I wish the net or perhaps the world, was still in the age of MySpace..
