I don't think the people who made these were trying to sexualize children at all, just following the trend of making little people look like big people. Most of the parents who buy these just find them cute, and aren't trying to make their kid 'hot' or whatever. I just think those outfits look ridiculous, because they're built to hold something that children don't have, and it just looks silly. But I don't think it looks like child porn or anything. I just kinda feel like this sort of thing is blown out of proportion...

That being said, I have a seven year old sister, and I do know that the clothes for that age group are getting more and more revealing. Trying to buy a bathing suit for her was hard because so many of them weren't just two pieces...weren't just bikinis, but they were string bikinis. The kind with the thread on the side. Which are out of the question for her. A two piece is alright, but a one piece is definitely preferable.

Would it be such a lol to you if a child was sexually assaulted by a paedophile after wearing these vile swimsuits?
A pedophile is going to molest whatever child they can get their hands on. Regardless of what they're wearing. That's just what sick fucks do.

I'm thinking the swimsuit wouldn't make much difference to a pedophile. Hmm.. this is kinna creepy in a child beauty pagent way.

Where I don't think these bikini's are intentionally sexy, they are probably meant to be cute, just like little 5 year old girls like to clump around in their mothers heals but why the animal print and the busty shape bikini tops? I'm just waiting on the baby thongs and baby wonder bra's showing up at fashion week. A bit strange for a business idea babykini? Not surprised we've not seen these jokers on dragons den.

It would make and interesting and funny new thread though, rediculous business ideas for people with more money than sense. I'll go first......baby wigs.com. I mean babies being born bald....what's that all about? their little potatoe shaped heads and no one knows whether they are a baby boy or baby girl. we can have tiny long haired ones for girls and tiny toupees for the boys. maybe to go with the lovely babykinis we could do some baby mirkins to peak out of the side of the pants, just like the real thing. I think I may have taken it too far!

The firm's website says its aim to "show that while parenting can be a great responsibility, it can also be a source of endless amusement."

I tie shit to my cat ( ok...ribbons...nothing like a anvil ), for my amusement...he is never all that amused.

this is absolutely the dumbest thing i've ever heard. this is she-was-asking-to-be-raped-by-wearing-a-low-cut-dress territory. pedophiles will be pedophiles regardless of what the child's wearing. they existed before babikini, they'll exist after.

and this is belated but

MOSSY, Oh my good god! I was joking, I tried to think of the most stupid thing I could, I had no idea it was already out there. At least this is for a dress up joke and not for real, mind you I don't think its so amusing to dress babies up in stupid joke outfits for adult amusement. Its just not right, it's like dressing dogs up in tuxedos or wedding dresses, totally messed up in the head..I don't think it's cute or get the humour????

The only obscene thing that I see on the website is the pricing for those tiny scraps of material.

Pedophiles do not choose their victims based on what they are wearing. They choose them based on availability, disposition of the child (how vulnerable & exploitable he/she is), and how easily manipulated the child is.

Given the profile of the typical pedophile (i.e., inability to relate to adults) I doubt that a babykini or a child dressed up to look like a miniature tart would do much for his/her libido, anyway. probably quite the opposite.

Dan, those album covers are not the same as the pic on the babykini site. The context is not the same. Those bikinis are totally inappropriate for a toddler. Parents who think they are cute are teaching their daughters that being a girl means preening and showing off their bodies is the best way to express femininity. Even if kids don't know what that means they are still picking up on that stuff and they will project it by the time they are teens and those parents will be arguing with their kids about showing too much skin and all whatever else and then wondering why they are rushing to grow up. Ironic no? Being a girl is hard enough...I just...why babikinis? Why?

This, I can agree with.

Tempting pedophiles with babykinis, though? Sheesh. Talk about no smoke, no fire.

I agree, and I find really objectionable that they have a Gallery there with photos. Just the way they've done that feels smarmy and wrong. That they are putting toddlers in string bikinis sexualizes them. The creators need to be smacked. Hard.

I also have photos of me as a kid in a two-piece swimsuit but it was like the ones described above - basically a one-piece that was cut in half, plus... I was a BABY at the time and NOT toilet trained (as most babies aren't) and the bottoms were made to go over a swim diaper.

These baby bikinis are not only tacky but disgusting in that if someone brought their kid to the pool in one of these, I'd get out of the water ASAP. Because there is NO WAY those swimsuits have any sort of waste-containment properties, if you know what I mean.

I hope the parents who buy these silly ass things have fun cleaning poo out of their pool later. Bet that's a real blast.
