In an attempt to get more people chatting and interacting on the boards, we have decided to do a bit of shuffling/combining of boards starting March 2019.

The current "Main Board" is pretty vague and people are never sure what to post here. To make it clearer, we are going to split it into two boards: "Fat in the Media" and "Daily Living".

The "Fat in the Media" board will be for any social, academic, etc mentions of fat people and discussion about that (which is a large function of the Main Board!). Threads for other topics can go in the "Daily Living" board, which will combine the Lounge, Fashion and Foodee boards for general talk, fat-related or not.

Hopefully this will make things clearer for people and encourage more posting.

"Attached" to the "Weight Board" used to be a subdirectory (or sub-forum) entitled "Weight Gain". Has this subdirectory been discontinued, consolidated with its parent, or moved elsewhere? If the last of these, where can one find it now?

It has been merged with the main Weight Board.

Now the model boards - the most popular forums are private so no one can get in - yea that sounds great.

Two questions.

1. Does "media" also encompass entertainment media like movies, TV, etc? And if so...
2. Does it apply to older forms of entertainment, could I do, for instance, a thread about the history of fat people in a specific type of entertainment over a 30+ year period?

Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to just remove some of the older threads? I’d rather start a new one rehashing old topics then reply to stuff from ten years ago that no one is reading or was started by someone who is no longer active.

That might go a long way towards keeping active members interacting with active members.

Maybe wipe everything older than 3 to five years? Or stuff that hasn’t been replied to or posted on in over a year? Not including the photos of course!!

Just a suggestion.

I absolutely understand where you are coming from, but unfortunately it is not possible.

Part of the roll of Dims is to act as an archive of our community, and the site owners don't want any threads locking or deleting.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but thank you for the suggestion!

Understandable. How about moving them to an archived area, using the same general parameters as a guide?

This way we keep current members and threads active, while not loosing anything previously posted.

Again, unfortunately not within our powers to do; the site owners say no.

Ways to help clean up the boards and separate older threads have been discussed at quite some length amongst the mod team but so far we haven't been able to come up with anything that works for ourselves and the site owners.

You are always welcome to start new threads on the same topics in the old thread is super old, by the way. You don't have to go digging around looking for super old threads or anything to see if the topic has been mentioned before. =) Generally, as long as there isn't another identical topic on, say, the first page of the threads, nobody will complain if you bring up the topic again.
