So, my wife and I are going to Chicago on March 8th for the first time. We're going to the Disturbed concert in Rosewood, so I was wondering what all is there to do in Chicago after a concert?

Went to Disturbed. It was amazing! Afterwards we got taken back to our hotel by a polite taxi. Had Taco Bell and slept.

I'll have to look those up if we go back to that area. And we didn't have time for the pizza. Is it really that good?

I remember going to my first Fat-gathering. I was by myself, it was the late eighties. It was tough to put myself out there. Back then the women outnumbered the men 10 or more to one. It is a bit different today!

I would love to go to one of those gatherings, but I'd be way too nervous.

Awwwwww, you should go! :) I know how difficult it can be, because I'm actually quite shy in social situations too, but you really should go because you deserve it! You deserve to go and have a good time, and to meet other like-minded people! Because they are all there for the same reasons you are! :) You'll feel nervous and out of place at first, but when you begin to see people chatting about things you have in common with each other, you'll quickly begin to loosen up and feel more like yourself, I assure you. Just remember, no one there is there to judge you whatsoever! The commonality and bonds that bring everyone together are mutually shared, so if you feel at home here, you'll feel at home there too. You seem like a nice and outgoing person, so I'm sure they'd appreciate having you and your quick wit there. ;):p Just do it for YOU and go! You deserve it! :)

I wish I was close!!!! I would go with you! Believe it or not, a few years ago there was a Dimensions Bash. It was great, weird thing was that people would shout out your screen name, when they saw you. It was fun putting faces to screen names and getting to hang out for a weekend.

Cool. :) Where was the event, how many people attended and has there ever been any discussion to hold another one? :) Although, if I ever attended, just like @Emmy I'd probably be the shy loner in the corner. lol

I remember my first Fat-gathering, too. Things were complicated for me by my being gay. I used to meet up with an FA friend once a week and we would drool over the long list of clubs for fat gay men in America and Europe. We wondered why we didn't have one. So, we decided to start our own Chubs and Chasers Club. We held our well attended inaugural meeting in one of the parks in Auckland on New Year's Day 1995. With Auckland's mild climate most of our events were outdoors. We always used to stake our rainbow flag into the ground, so that newcomers would be able to spot us easily. I don't know how many times I heard a snippet of conversation, which ran something like this:

"Hey, look at those guys over there with the Rainbow Flag. Do you think that they're all gay?"

"Naah, look how many of them are fat. Gay men don't get fat."

The point of this little story is that, if you don't have the group that you want close to where you live, you can always start one up.

It was great, I know possibly close to 200 people it was in Orlando. Lots of pool time and wonderful gatherings! There hasn’t been any talk of doing another that I know of.

Wow! That's a lot of people! o_O I bet it was a lot of fun! Sure sounds like it! :) I may have to get up the courage to go to an FA/FFA meet someday. I'm just so shy in social gatherings. lol  I tried looking for one in my area, but I didn't really find anything. I don't know, maybe I am not wording it right in my Google searches?

My gf is going to their LLC 4th of July bash. She and I won free tickets at one of the Milwaukee meet-n-greets. But this is my holiday to work, so she is going without me. We gave away the other ticket to someone else.
