Still sounds like a good time to me.
i beleive you can! it says there is swimming. the hosts name is Amy Nicole. I already have plans that day but i figured id pass it along
FYI, Meetup also has a separate listing for Living Large Milwaukee specifically, but it is nowhere near as *large* as the Chicago group. https://www.meetup.com/Living-Large-Milwaukee/
heres a few more events coming up
Def going apple picking
wouldnt mind some wings too
Emmy! Thank you so much for sharing these events. I know events are happening. I post them as I find them. If we all do that we can probably put together a nice list
Thanks for posting these events in the Chicago and Milwaukee areas. I attended the LLCM annual picnic in Brookfield WI on Aug 3rd. Lots of fun despite getting drenched by two sudden thunderstorms. I will probably attend the Milwaukee water park event too. I am now officially a member of Living Large Chicago! (via MeetUp)
I am so excited to hear this!!!!!!!! Now the HV needs some mobility friendly activities.
My girlfriend went. She liked some of it. She likes the smaller meet n greets more. From the sound of it, I probably would too. Fewer people makes the conversations deeper. She said she would be willing to go with me in the future, mostly because I really want to go. But said Booty-Bash or whatever they call it now, for Halloween would be to big for her. She disliked the dance portion due to the volume being way to loud to talk to anyone, like normal dances these days.
When people find out it's your first time, a lot of the members will take you under their wing and introduce you to a lot of members. Of the about 6 meet n greets we went too, all of them have been in Milwaukee. So when she went to Chicago, she was still introduced to a lot of people. We are told the turnouts are always better in Chicago.
We are planning to go to the pool party on the August 24th.
Jessica, one of the admin's, said they make sure the majority of the outings are friendly to people with mobility issues. Not sure what you meant by HV.
Also anyone can join their facebook page. Which is very active, and usually has daily themes for posting topics. Even if you never plan to go to one of the events.
yesss! im so glad you had a good time! did u go swimming?
i found them through the app meet up! an alternative if you dont have facebook
No swimming, I was much too chicken! Some of the ladies had more nerve than me! I do intend to "hang out" at the water park event, however.
I attended the Milwaukee water park event this afternoon. Beautiful day, great weather, nice people to talk to, and relaxing just to lounge by the pool. And, for the first time in many, many years, I actually put on my trunks and went swimming IN PUBLIC! I did notice something that seemed strange to me: the vast majority of men in the pool (not from our group) were wearing t-shirts or something else to cover the top of their body. Have men really become so shy about themselves? Not wanting to show off the moobs, perhaps? Many of the women, on the other hand, were much more "revealing" (not that I'm complaining - just saying).
imost of my guy friends who arent "in shape" [30 yrs old range] do wear shirts
just to follow up on this... while there's a huge, HUGE, body positivity movement... its aimed towards women mostly.. I think a lot of us ( imo) think women are the only ones with fragile egos. So not the case! I'm pretty happy you brought this up actually.... No one should have to hide behind clothing ... at a water park of all places! Simply because they are concerened what others will say about their bodies. Its a sad day when a man will cover up his pecs and biceps [YUM] because of his tummy or other jiggly parts! Plus lets be honest... that white shirt is going to hug that man everywhere anyways! rawr!
