When people went to see the Transformers movie, (not me man, they didn't do Death's Head) they got to see the most exciting piece of marketing ever conceived during the sneak previews.

The trailer began. (See below for link btw.) It's a party for a guy named Rob, who is moving to Japan. Suddenly the lights go out and a newscaster on a TV set announces reports of strange groaning and earthquakes. The party goes onto the terrace and witnesses a tremendous explosion (supposedly around where Ground Zero is) occurs, sending fireballs all over the city, devastating it. The party runs for cover and the lights flicker. Finally they are on the street in a huge crowd which is running to and fro. Someone yells, "IT'S ALIVE!" and some huge object bounces off a skyscraper and heads toward the camera. The cameraman dodges behind some cars, which take the brunt of the impact, and then we see the object as it comes to a stop. It is the head of the Statue of Liberty.

The trailer ends with the words "1-18-08" and NO TITLE.

----

What is it?

The search began for the possible title or what the monster was. Everyone started looking everywhere. Rumors flew faster than information.

The rumors have come up with possibles on the film's identity: Ghostbusters, Orca, Dragon Ball Z, Voltron, Cthulhu, maybe even "Snakes on a Plane 2". None of these seems to be true. Nobody can figure it out.

Next came the internet search for viral websites. At first there were a couple of "Ethan Haas" websites which featured Flash puzzles, but apparently JJ Abrams himself has said these were not connected with the movie. He would only confirm the first of the movie websites: http://www.1-18-08.com/

One of the people in the trailer has a "Slusho" T-shirt. Slusho is a fictional drink which appeared in an early episode of "Alias", but the website http://www.slusho.jp/ mentions whales, and the groaning in the trailer sounds like whales.

The latest theory says it's a Rampage movie. In the video game, the monsters drank cola to power up (Slusho is a cola). There were six monsters (the Slusho slogan is, "Bet you can't drink just six"). The last level of Rampage is set in New York (as this movie is).

The working title of the movie has been Cloverfield, according to various news releases the media has seen.

There are a few more clues out there. The entire internet has turned into a scavenger hunt, the prize being name recognition as the person who figured it all out first.

I have not been this excited about a film since "Snakes on a Plane", and this time I don't have to get silly about it. This is genuinely serious and a scary premise.
