Ugh...

I randomly came upon this tidbit online...Hillary Swank's film production company (didn't know she had one) has acquired the rights to the best-selling book "French Women Don't Get Fat." Never mind that the book's premise is largely bullshit, the rate of adult obesity in France being around 11% and rising...how they propose to turn a fad diet book into a romantic comedy I'm not sure -- I suppose just trading on the name of this obnoxious franchise is enough for them...

What great fun it will be for fat chicks to have to endure the inevitable humiliation that'll result should this project ever come to fruition...let's just hope it falls through and never sees the light of day.

Swank Adapting French Women Don't Get Fat

August 13, 2008

Hilary Swank and producing partner Molly Smith have acquired the rights to adapt the best-selling book "French Women Don't Get Fat" for the duo to produce through their Alcon Entertainment-based 2S Films, reports Variety.

Swank may star in the adaptation that's being envisioned as a romantic comedy about the manager of a champagne company who learns some tough life lessons.

Heather Hach, who wrote the remake of Freaky Friday and the "Legally Blonde" musical, will adapt the book.

First published in 2004, the non-fiction book became a best-seller for writer and former Champagne Veuve Clicquot topper Mireille Guiliano, offering insights on how French women manage to stay slim despite enjoying such calorie-rich fare as wine and pastries.

Swank and Smith's 2S Films will develop and co-produce the feature with Aaron Geller and Darryl Porter of PorterGeller Entertainment.

In addition to French Women Don't Get Fat, Hach is also working on a sequel to Freaky Friday.
