Being gay getting better in rural UK?

From the Economist:

"A study of British pornography-viewing habits makes it possible to see where gay people live. Data from listings websites reveal where events catering specifically to gay or bisexual people take place. Put together, these datasets suggest that lots of gay people live in rural areas of Britain without much sign of their presence. But thanks to a reduction in bigotry and the rise of specialist dating apps, they are increasingly visible"
