It's supposed to get down to about 10°F here tonight. That's probably no big deal for you northerners or Canadians, but it is for us.

Sooooo..... do you have favorite metaphor/simile for how cold it is?

My old favorite: It's as cold as a brass bra.
My new favorite: It's as cold as penguin poop.

What's yours?

It's so cold here that the hookers are charging $25 to blow on your hands.

Oxfordshire, England, British Isles.
Could freeze the balls off of a brass monkey.

(It's actually not that bad in England, I just like that expression!).
The wind is pretty strong for this part of the country, last year the gate kept falling off of the wall.

Around here, it's been so cold that people stopped wearing shorts for a few days!

(I'm in Southern California. But I've done my time in the cold, having had an outdoor job through more than a dozen Northern Utah winters and a couple of Alaskan ones, too.)

Popular up here in Maine: It's colder than a witch's titty in a cast iron bra!

I am currently wearing a hood if that means anything. Can't beat this San Diego weather.

Oh, it was dreadful here over the weekend.
We had rain, which is kind of like snow except for the water being frozen part.
Fortunately, that's behind us for a while.

In my 'hood we use an abbreviated version "colder than a witch's nipple".

We actually had some 'Frost Quakes' here recently after a cold snap, caused by Frost Giants emerging from the Earth to hassle the local hamlets. I am not making this up. It is a Canadian weather fact.

Two of my favorites:

(from show business) "It's as cold as an agent's heart."

"It's so cold I saw a lawyer with his hands in his own pockets."

It's completely Arctic here.

Also it's so windy it's throwing me around... This is a fairly impressive feat.

Ottawa is in that horrible period where -8c actually feels "warm" compared to what we've been having.

Despite my winter-hatred, I must admit I've had some magnificent beardsicles while running the last week or so...

Edit- minus 8c was the high temp today...right now it's -18c, -23c with the windchill if you recognize that. I do not.

oh you know, it was 90*f (34c) aaaaand it looks like its going to be that way for the next few days. not to mention mid 80's for the days following those. did i mention its been this way since around mid January?

gahh....sometimes i REALLY hate los angles. i know most of you think winter is overrated, but in times like these i actually envy you people. the weather is like this 9 months out of the year as it is. these few weeks of "winter" are our only time away from it

end rant. sorry, weather really works me up

This is not comforting. :(

Local radio says we hit -40c about 20 minutes ago.
