I am so excited for Inauguration Day that I decided to throw a little party in honor of Obama. I searched the web for his favorite foods and really hit the jackpot when I came upon his very own chili recipe! So, in honor of our new president, I will be making his special chili topped with cheddar cheese and served over rice (as he prefers it!), along with broccoli and homemade pumpkin pie for dessert. Since I can't find his favorite tea (Black Forest Berry Honest Tea), I've substituted another type pf berry tea. I know it sounds silly, but I live for this kind of stuff! :)

Is anyone else celebrating our new president?

You betcha. I am going to a sandwich shop for lunch tomorrow - Johnny Salami's on Long Wharf in New Haven. They have promised an inauguration special and won't say what it is. I asked if it would come with a side of spam since he was born in Hawaii. I was told "we'll see." At home for dinner I am thinking of Chicago style foods - Ribs like at Carson's, and Apple Pancake like at Walker Brothers. I will most definately celebrate the end of Dubya, and the beginning of Barak.

Yay for you! Sounds like a mighty delicious day in store for both of us!

Actually CB, I made Obama's chili recipe in his honor on Election Day. I would like to say that it did need a bit more spice for my taste so you may want to taste it along the way. I added some extra garlic powder and just a bit of cayenne.

As for Inauguration Day, I will be celebrating with a special dinner.

Since I have hit the Meyer Lemon jackpot, I will be making some Chicken Piccata over angel hair pasta with spinach on the side. For dessert, some lemon pie made with fresh squeezed Meyer Lemon juice and zest.:eat2:

MMMMM, sounds like another yummy meal planned for tomorrow~! I LOVE lemon pie!
I made the chili today since I will be glued to the TV all morning tomorrow! LOL! I did add a few of my own ingredients as well as a bit more spices. Still I was quite impressed as I am not really a chili person. I thought the vinegar (I used balsamic) really added a nice flavor!
