Here is my concept...fat men are often highly isolated and geographically separated from their peers...this is not really about finding dates or relationships, which is another issue we can address separately...but it is about talking to each other about strengths we share, problems in life, things that it is sometime difficult for others to fully comprehend. I am talking about some of the men who have been on the board for longer periods acting as mentors, guides, or support, for some of the new men, who may need a bit of orientation or support. Fat men do face serious problems in life and I think the sooner we begin to deal with some of these issues...even simple, practical things like where to find clothes or good health care, we will have more of a grasp on a real community. I am not suggesting that anyone take on any role other than just being there to talk with someone who may need a word or two...we have a chat room and hardly anyone uses it, I think because we are sooooo focused on the almighty relationship thing that we can't realize any other options...can we give this a try? I am thinking a once or twice a week support chat...volunteer based...one hour...any ponderations?
