I've been really inspired by a lot of the 3D work I've seen on this board. I've been a professional illustrator using Macs for a while now, mostly with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, but I'm really itching to get into 3D. Can anyone give me advice on what package(s) to use? I downloaded a trial of Poser a while back, but found it kind of constraining. I'm originally from the land of graphite, rapidographs, denril, and such, and I'd like something where I can be a little expressive and not have to start off with canned presets all the time (Though I understand if this is a necessary entry point for all 3D software, as I'm starting to believe... True?). I don't mind a steep learning curve or price, but there seem to be a lot of choices out there and don't want to make the wrong one. Any advice or tips would be appreciated.
