Baby, it’s cold outside, but step into SWEAT, Big Moves’ annual winter showcase, and you’ll be warmed through and through!

Big Moves already has a rep for hot costumes, killer moves, and bold performers, and SWEAT is where these kids come out to play. This year’s SWEAT will see world premieres of everything from bellydance to a Wild West burlesque number by THICK, Big Moves’ newest performance project. We’re pairing these with some wet and wild favorites from past shows, with performances by the Phat Fly Girls (hip hop), Filling the Stage (jazz and musical theater), and Caravan of Curves (bellydance), plus Big Moves poet laureate Jaclyn Friedman and our own Amazonian emcee, Alicia Greene.

Guests will get a chance to play along, with several audience participation spots in the program, including a limbo contest and the full-body-contact Twister tournament. Audiences may also elect to sponsor the self-sacrificing dancer of their choice in the first-ever Big Moves Kegel-a-thon: five minutes of the most subtle movement theater on stage, all for Big Moves. To find out about sponsoring a dancer in the Kegel-a-thon, send email to [email protected]

Along with a slightly risqué raffle, tickets purchased at the door may be used at one of the booths in our Sensuality Sideshow, for massages, hand-fed chocolates, and VIP treatment on velvet cushions. All proceeds from these activities, and all profits from ticket sales, will benefit Big Moves’ spring revue, The Big Easy, which is opening in Northampton on April 20, and comes to Boston May 3-5, 2007.
