The Enchantress's Chair
By Phrozen

[Author's note:] Been a long time since I've written anything. Here's the first part of a story in progress. Let me know what you think and I'll post more.

“Don’t sit in the chair,” April heard the male tour guide say as she approached the stone table.

April Walker was a university student on an exchange in Europe, wherein she was currently on tour in an old castle in the north of the continent. As part of her Arts program, she was studying medieval history and leapt at the idea of a travel to Europe to both help in her studies and to sight-see. She was a gorgeous brunette standing an average height, having a lean, toned build.

“Sorry,” April said as she backed away. The group was in a large hall that had a long, stone table in the center of it, with nearly two dozen chairs lining it all around. April had approached one end of the table, where one of the chairs was distinctively larger, probably about twice as large as the others. “I was just curious as to why this one particular chair is so much larger than the others?”

“Ah,” the tour guide said, a smile crossing his face. “Interesting that you ask, actually. You see, an old, old legend holds that the last owner of this castle was a woman, a Queen, who was at one time married to a wealthy and powerful King. This King was sought after by many a woman, yet no womanly wiles ever entranced him, for his will was great. Even a powerful enchantress- who was said to live in these lands, and who desperately wanted this King for herself- tried to use her magical abilities to sway him, but the King’s will proved too great. Then, one day the King picked a bride, and the Enchantress became very jealous. Not long after their marriage, the Enchantress, through guise of good-will, visited the Queen at the Castle while the King was away with his army on a campaign. The Enchantress congratulated the Queen and bestowed her with the gift of a beautifully sculpted stone chair that was twice as large as any the Queen had ever seen. The Queen was very pleased with the gift and asked for it to be placed in the great hall at the grand table there. The Enchantress acquiesced, but before leaving, legend has it that the Enchantress bewitched the chair.”

The tour guide stopped suddenly, as if for a dramatic pause.

One of the other girls in the tour group suddenly said, “What did the Enchantress enchant the chair with?”

“Well,” the tour guide continued, “So jealous was the Enchantress of the new Queen’s wedding of the King, that the Enchantress vowed to make the King fall out-of-love with the Queen. To do this, she bewitched the chair with a Curse for whomever that sat in the chair to become monstrously fat in a short amount of time. The stories say that after a short two weeks, the King returned to the castle to find his wife gorging herself on a feast that lay upon the table, having nearly tripled her size and weight since he had left. The King became revolted at the sight of his wife, but the King himself happened to be a well versed sorcerer, even more powerful than the Enchantress. He suspected foul play, and asked his wife who had caused this to happen. The Queen, however, was too engrossed in her feeding to answer.

“At this moment, the Enchantress appeared behind the King and addressed him, telling him that she was responsible, for she had gifted the Queen with the enchanted stone chair. The King was enraged, but knew that, despite being more powerful, he could not reverse the effects on his wife, nor dispel the enchantment. He wouldn’t kill the Enchantress, for he was not an evil King. Instead, the King used his magic to trap the Enchantress’ essence within her stone creation for all of eternity. He left the Castle with his army in search of a new land, a new wife, and the Castle fell to abandonment and ruin. His wife died alone not long after and the Castle was forever left abandoned.”

At the end of the guide’s story, there was a dramatic pause as everyone digested this information.

April was the first to speak when she said, “But that’s just an old myth, isn’t it? I mean, the chair can’t actually be cursed, right?”

“Even if the stories weren’t true,” the guide answered her, “we still can’t allow people to be touching, sitting, or in any other way affecting most of the findings here in the Castle. This is still a Museum of sorts, you know. Now, if you’ll follow me up these stairs... Did you know that-”

The guide’s voice trailed off in April’s ear. The rest of the group had proceeded on, but she still felt drawn towards the chair. She walked towards the front of it, looking it over. Seemed like a perfectly normal chair, she thought. She looked up to where the Royal Insignia was, just as the guide had said.

She reached her hand forward and touched the tips of her fingers to the emblem. A shiver immediately went through her and she withdrew. “Calm down, April, it’s just cold. It’s stone, after all. There’s no such thing as Enchantresses and curses,” she told herself. Still, with the proximity she had to the chair she began to feel... weird. Almost like some sort of invisible aura was pulsating towards her, drawing her closer in. She looked down to the seat of the chair, and truly marveled at the width of it. It looked like it could hold just over two people her size in it. Curiosity got the better of her, and she stepped in front of the chair, turned around and slowly lowered herself to a sitting position...

“See, I knew it was all fake!” April exclaimed to herself. Just as she said that, the daylight streaming through the skylights above suddenly darkened to night, and eventually the entire room fell to blackness. April’s heart raced, and she immediately attempted to rise from the chair, but found that she couldn’t some sort of force was keeping her down.

“Don’t be scared,” a mysterious voice suddenly whispered into April’s ear.

April was shivering profusely and breathing rapidly, however. Unsure of who was talking to her, or how to answer, she said, in a very small, frightened voice, “Wh-who are you?”

“You know who I am,” the voice returned.

“The... Enchantress?” April breathed.

Before an answer came, and just as sudden as the falling blackness came about, several lights began to illuminate the hall. April looked about her and noticed that the torch-stands that had earlier been empty now contained torches that were burning brightly. The sky above through the skylights was still black, but now the room was illuminated, although looking quite different.

The hall had lost its old, decrepit, dusty and abandoned look. The table before her was covered in a magnificent crimson cloth with candlesticks lining across it. Linens lined each of the chairs including the one she sat in. The hall looked as how it might have looked centuries ago when in use.

Once again, April attempted to stand, but after exerting effort, she was again pushed back down by some unknown force.

“Please, sit,” the voice said to her once again.

“What do you want from me?” April asked aloud.

“For you to be comfortable,” the voice answered. “You must be hungry.”

“No, I’m n-” April was stopped midsentence by a wrenching in her stomach. A moment ago she had genuinely felt fine, but now she felt absolutely famished. Her stomach growled its hungry protest.

“Your midsection answers for you. Please, eat.”

April was so very hungry. Her thoughts turned to delicious chocolate cake, her favorite dessert. To her astonishment, she suddenly beheld a small slice of chocolate cake that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere onto the table before her. She tried to think about what the guide had said, and where she was and what was happening, but her rational thought had seemed to be overridden by her sudden, insatiable desire for food. Against her will, she found her hand reaching forward for the cake. She picked the cake up by hand and brought it to her lips. She took a small bite and began to chew.

An intense pleasure filled her, unlike any experience she had ever had. She took another bite, and another, and after four large mouthfuls the cake had disappeared from her hand.

“The spell is set,” the voice said again.

“What spell?” April said after rubbing off cake crumbs from her face.

“The spell is set,” the voice simply repeated.

“What s-” April was interrupted again by her growling stomach, that had now redoubled its ravenousness.

“Please, eat.”

April looked back to the table. This time, two pieces of chocolate cake, each slightly bigger than the last slice, sat upon the table. April quickly reached forth and grabbed the cake, devouring each as quickly as she did the first slice. Chocolate icing was smeared across her cheeks as she shoveled the delicacy into her mouth with her bare hands. She moaned with pleasure as the cake filled her stomach, assuaging her hunger and tantalizing her taste-buds. “More!” she suddenly said.

And there was more. This time, though, an entire cake sat upon the table. This didn’t stop April, though, as her hunger knew no bounds. She flew at the cake, grabbing handfuls of the chocolaty goodness and stuffing it down her throat, savoring the delicious taste as it went. Halfway through the cake, she let out a little burp, and reached down to readjust the jogging pants she had on. Her stomach was beginning to fill with all the cake and her otherwise flat stomach distended outward slightly.

After hastily devouring the rest of the cake, she felt like she needed milk to wash the cake down. As if on cue, a goblet of milk appeared on the table before her. She reached forward and grabbed it, bringing the brim to her lips. She tilted the cup back and swallowed down the milk. As she drank, she noticed that the cup didn’t seem to be emptying. Rather, her enjoyment and pleasure of the milk seemed to perpetuate its supply as the goblet never ran dry. Even so, she continued to drink and drink. Eventually, her pants began to grow tight around her middle, and the sweater she had on began to noticeably bulge from all of the milk that was flowing into her.

“Milk does a body good, you know,” the voice whispered in her ear as she guzzled down the drink.

While holding the cup in one hand, she reached down with her other and undid the drawstring on her pants, allowing her stomach to distend outwards more comfortably.

“Mmm... Fill that luscious tummy,” the voice said now in a regular, almost seductive voice.

This time the voice truly registered with April’s conscious self and she immediately put down the goblet. She then mustered all of her strength and stood up from the chair.
Breathing heavily, April took in her surroundings. She was back to the old looking Castle that she was visiting with the tour group. Sunlight was pouring through the skylights ahead, and layers of dust lay over everything.

“Was it all a dream?” she asked herself. She then reached down... And her hand met with a taut and very full stomach. She felt as if she had eaten a meal large enough for four. She pulled her sweater down over her distended stomach, feeling absolutely sick from her stuffed stomach.
