    Big People in Small Biz

I love when you chime in! :D I am really sorry to hear your mother said such things to you. :( But I imagine there are many many folks who strive for success in some way to prove themselves greater than what their parents said about or saw in them. I sense a similar drive in myself to prove...

    Big People in Small Biz

Like you, I LOVE :smitten: seeing fat people succeeding while doing what they love to do. I love hearing their stories and finding myself inspired to chase my own passions with greater determination. Best wishes and good luck in your endeavors!

    Big People in Small Biz

Great to hear from you on this! #2 :D I will be visiting your establishment next time I'm in NY! #4 I'm with you completely on working for someone else. I haven't worked as an employee for anyone in about 4 years now and I honestly don't think I want to unless it is the last possible...

Thank you. If you are self-employed, in most cases, I consider that a form of small business and would love to hear your thoughts as well.

    Big People in Small Biz

Thank you for answering! And I must agree with you on #3. There is tremendous risk in starting a small business and often not much capital or support (especially for unique biz ideas). Certainly it takes a great deal of courage and fortitude to venture into new waters and believe you can (stay...

    Big People in Small Biz

I'm just curious how many big folks we have here who are entreprenuers in small business. I've been on a personal quest to learn the effects of self/size acceptance in the careers and professions of fat people. Can accepting one's size and body actually increase his or her ability to succeed...

The Best and Worst things about being a (BBW, BHM, FA, FFA)

Best? That I am both soft femininity and solid strength. Worst? Seeing the continued programming by our media that not only stereotypes fat people, but keeps people of all sizes in fear of loving themselves just the way they are and knowing it's all just a load of bullshit to sell products...

    Totie Fields on YouTube!

Heidi Klum sounds off on Jessica Simpson's new look

Didn't Jessica Simpson develop a designer jeans line for plus size women? Maybe all this new found identification with being "fat" (even though she's only picked up 10-15 lbs, if that) will help her sell some jeans. Or maybe she'll be the next Jenny Craig rep! Jeez I sound cynical. :kiss2:

    Leaving the size acceptance movement?

Hey T, you know me. I have no pat answers or nuggets of wisdom to cure what ails. But I do think I understand the sentiment of your original post and on that note you said something that really struck a chord with me.... It was "Lately, my heart just hasn't been in it. Lately, I've just been...

    Martial Arts Anyone?

I haven't been trained in the use of finger locks, but I can see how they are definately effective! :) The move in that video, the Sankyo, was the most frequent hold we used and practiced all sorts of ways to transition to that move. That nice twist on the wrist makes for quick compliance :p

    Martial Arts Anyone?

I've been trained and state certified in ACT-Akido Control Techniques and if I could attend any martial arts training I would further my skills in arts of Akido. I was trained for the purpose of self-defense and restraint of violent teens in Kentucky's Dept of Juvenile Justice. We were also...
