Can't find any English news sources on this topic, but I got this story from the Dutch newspaper Telegraaf (more or less the Dutch equivalent of the Daily Mail)
http://www.telegraaf.nl/buitenland/7888042/__Iran__alliantie_met_paus__.html?p=2,1

According to the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, President Ahmadinejad of Iran has written a letter to Pope Benedict XVI, in which he proposes that the two form a 'holy alliance' directed against secularisation. He also thanked the Pope for his condemnation of the planned Qur'an burning. Ahmadinejad wants to cooperate with the Pope to "stop the tendency of man to concentrate only on the material life' and to work towards a 'new world order'.

New world order? The conspiracy theorists will have a field day with this one.
Anyway, what do you folks at Dimensions think? Is this story for real or just something cooked up by sensationalist media? Is Ahmadinejad serious with this proposal? And will it be succesfull?
