Though not explicitly about his sexuality the injustice of his treatment in the context of his contribution can hardly be ignored. This long overdue celebration cannot help but be a far more belated vindication.

As a career mathematician I have experienced glimpses of his brilliance throughout my life. It would be almost impossible to think of someone who has made such a profound and lasting contribution to mathematics in particular and humanity in general yet met such an ignominious end.

I've always know that homophobia was intrinsically wrong but learning the story of Turing's persecution has kept me a staunch and outspoken advocate for gay rights ever since.

There's much more to be seen of Turing on the Internet but I found the above link most in keeping with his nature.
