The labor market participation of young American mothers is plummeting. Meanwhile that of other western countries is steadily rising. Once more we're falling behind the competition.
In 2000 74% of young mothers were employed. In 2013 just 69%. Meanwhile female labor market participation in the rest of the developed world continues to increase.

The cause is simple. The rest of the developed world tries to make work as easy as possible for young mothers. Unfortunately conservative American policies do the opposite.
