Just saw this on the news wire, for those who are interested, but Sir Ed Hillary, he who first conquered Everest with Tenzing Norgay, died today at age 88.

I never talked to the man, unfortunately. He was in rough shape when he came down to McMurdo with the NZ Prime Minister in January, though I never got the chance to meet him. I called his house once to ask for an autograph, which I got, but didn't have the stones to ask for him directly. I just spoke to his wife, haha. I'm now cursing myself because he definitely would have been cool with it. A sad day.
