I've been trying to stay away from this board, for fear I'd lose myself in it, never to return to a normal, productive(ish) life. The thread titles make me climb the walls with eat-hornyness, and finally, I'm surrendering to it. With a query.

I'll be spending a day in Louisville in a couple weeks, and I'm wondering if anyone here has any quirky-delish lowbrow dining suggestions. Based on Chowhound searches and LouisvilleHotBytes.com (GREAT site, reads like porn), I've closed in on a few likelies - Lynn's Paradise Diner, Flabby's Schnitzelberg, and Vince Staten's Barbecue.

I realize Lynn's will be brimming with touristas, but their breakfast menu leaves me no choice but to line up with 'em. A Popeye Omelet? Bourbon Ball French Toast? It'll be Lynn's or bust. Or more likely, Lynn's AND bust.

The other two I'm less committed to. Does Louisville have its own style of barbecue or chili? Who has the best examples of it? Who serves the best Hot Brown in town, and what other dishes or desserts is Louisville known for?

And what other non-food things should we try to see while there? (Sorry, I ain't tourin' no bat factory.)
