In case you did not already hear of this:

Rex Reed Review: Identity Thief

Melissa McCarthy's size is referenced four times during the article. Not having seen the movie, I poked at a few other reviews to get an idea of movie itself.

The good news for us fans of Melissa is that the movie does not seem to make reference to her size as a part of the story line, which might otherwise validate some reference to her weight in review. She plays an identity theft on the merits of her skill as a comedic actress, in a role that seems to be size-neutral.

The bad news is that none of the reviews I sampled have been favorable to the film; but none matched the fat-bashing vitriol of Mr. Reed.

Do any of you follow his columns to know whether Rex Reed is particularly fat-phobic, or does he generally write with an expression of contempt, disdain, and meanness to others?
