There have been a few threads recently about fatphobia in other countries -- usually other industrialized countries like China and the U.K. I can't help but wonder if fatphobia is a byproduct of an industrial culture: does the standardization of consumer goods, education, and entertainment lead to the desire to standardize people? Is this attitude equally prevalent in countries like Botswana or Vanuatu? Are there any globetrotters out there who can speak about this from experience?
