This is a thread on the topic of unfeeling robotic hands.

Say you had the option to replace your current set of hands with robot hands. They would have the characteristics we associate with robots -- strong, obedient, unfeeling. Would you do it? (You cannot go back and change hands.)

I have compiled an exhaustive list of benefits and negatives to such a choice.

PRO
-futuristic (all metal is futuristic)
-able to grip things extremely hard (if you were hanging on to the outside landing bar of a helicopter as it flew away this would be invaluable)
-stylish (metal could be painted to fit in with this seasons hot colors)
-bullet-proof (all metal is bullet-proof)
-you could put refrigerator magnets on your hands to hold up important pieces of paper like your college diploma or that place mat from T.G.I.Friday's that you drew a picture of Ryan Seacrest getting mauled by pumas on the back of (sorry for the awkward construction of this sentence it won't happen again)
-keeping with the refrigerator magnet-theme you could attach "To Do" list to one of your hands with a magnet and use it as a personal organizer like "1.) Pick up laundry 2.) drop kids off at military recruitment office 3.) sue manufacturer of robot hands for flaw in circuitry that gives hands a mind of their own 4.) meet Hands at Starbucks near mall to catch up on old times"

CON
-Rust (all metal rusts)
-Increased frustration with airport security
-Incredibly powerful robotic grip would actually make certain things impossible, like squeezing toothpaste tube (destroyed), holding hands with a loved one (destroyed), or picking up two atoms (fusion reaction)
-Would play piano with the unfeeling roboticness of a Russian
-People could attach insulting notes to your hands with magnets ("HEY NICE HANDS JERK! SQUEEZED ANY TOOTHPASTE RECENTLY? HA HA. - guy on subway")
-Illegal to pet cute animals (except cute robot animals)
-Still wouldn't be able to snap your fingers really well
-If you were hanging out with your friends and they said "hey lets go to the glove store!" or maybe a hand-related theme park you'd have to say "Uh sure but hold on I have to go take care of something I'll meet you guys inside" and then you'd wander around awkwardly trying to think of a way to sneak in but wouldn't be able to and then you'd go up to the big window at the front and press your face against it and see them laughing and having a good time. Also it would be snowing outside and in the 1930s

Taking this list into consideration, please present why you would or would not replace your current hands with unfeeling robotic hands. Thank u.
