Well, after seven years of promising to repeal the ACA but for President Obama's veto, the Republicans finally had their chance today.

And failed.

Despite having decisive majorities in both houses of Congress, and the Presidency.

Understandably so, as the "replacement" was polling at about 17% approval. Which is also understandable, as it would have stripped health coverage from 24 million Americans while giving hundreds of millions of dollars of tax cuts to the people who needed them least. The appalling part is that in order to try to get enough Congressional votes, the Republicans spent the last hours before the vote trying to make it worse in order to appeal to the reactionary Freedom Caucus.

So, in addition to President Trump betraying pretty much everything he promised about health care on the campaign trail, he also failed to close the deal. This despite having aides compile a "enemies list" of Republican congresspersons who failed to support the bill -- it's starting to look like he's negotiating from a weak position now.

It's not over, of course. But for now, millions of citizens can breathe a little easier tonight.
