Why does Black History Month bring the racists out of the woodwork, yet Women's History month goes on without controversy? Surely, I never hear men whining about 'why don't we have a Men's history month? I hear crickets chirping...

Race is a much pressing issue in this country than gender. I guarantee you, if I were to walk into a store in Georgia in 1947, as a woman of color, the store manager would kick me out of the store. Why pray tell? It's not because I lack a phallus. Previously, many of the suffragettes denied women of color in their organizations. Hmm....

It is for that reason that many women of color choose to identify with the civil rights movement rather than the feminist women's movement.

It's race first, then gender..........
