Hi All! I'm somewhat of a lurker here, FOR YEARS, but I ran across this video today and I thought some of you would get a kick out of it. This is a clip titled Miss Fat and Beautiful, 1962 Newsreel About Plump and Lovely Fashions. I also liked that the blog I found it on, the-beheld.com, had this to say about it:
"Beauty queens: Fascinating newsreel featuring Miss Fat and Beautiful, a pageant from 1960s London. We've been working for a long while on size acceptance, it seems; how much longer will it take?"
nice to hear from a blog that isn't touted as being about size acceptance but "to foster a larger conversation about beauty and what it means"
