As I have previously reported, last week I went to a health awareness gathering. At the gathering one of the lecturers explained, in great detail, how unhealthy it is to be fat and listed the many diseases he believes are associated with being fat.

During a break I went down the hall and started looking in the doctor’s offices that were in this large building. I found one that had no armless chairs. I went in and explained to the person at the desk that I was at a health gathering and that one of the presenters was describing the many types of illnesses associated with being obese. He also presented graphs showing that the average American is getting fatter. To the receptionist I pointed out that if the presenter was accurate than the receptionist was going to be seeing be more and more sick fat people showing up at that doctor’s office. I then asked the receptionist where a large fat person that was sick would sit in that office. The receptionist explained to me that, if the fat person asked, the receptionist would probably find an armless chair for them. I explained that some fat people, especially some fat women, might find it embarrassing to explain that their bottoms were too big to fit into any of the chairs in that office. I suggested that perhaps it would be a good idea to buy a bench or an armless chair so that at least one of these many fat people that I was being told would be showing up at doctor’s offices could sit in comfort while waiting for their appointment.

I plant a lot of seeds. Most of them do not grow. But, the more seads I plant the more likely it is that some of them will grow.

Yours truly,

Russell Williams
