....thank you, 60 Minutes, for your intrepid journalism. Why, how wonderful that only 1 out of every 1000 people die now of this surgery! Why, how wonderful that it instantly cures type II diabetes! Why, how wonderful that all of these people who you chose to interview are so very happy! Why, how wonderful that all of the doctors that you interviewed thought that bariatric surgery is the greatest thing since sliced bread!
Really, 60 Minutes, thank you. Because of you, I had to wake up to an e-mail from my parents that had them all but committing me to having gastric bypass surgery so that they don't have to "worry" about me or my future. They saw nothing wrong with being gutted like a fish and deliberatly mutilating myself so that I could be healthy and thin! In fact, they don't even have to GUT you anymore now that they can do it all laproscopicaly (sic)! In fact, the doctor you feature is just down the road from me in Richmond! Perhaps I should call him for an appointment!
And when I suggest that perhaps that's not what I want or that it's none of their business, why they attack me! Because they're worried about my health, and they won't be able to take care of me! And besides, this isn't risky life-altering surgery, it's a cure! For being fat! And diabetic! Because you don't have the will or ability to lose weight on your own! How could you think that insulting!
