We wanted to bring the topics we discussed in the bash workshops back to the Dimensions community for further discussion.

Here is a full list of all the workshops and links to the threads for individual workshops.

Please use these threads to continue the discussions, and bring back the things you learned/shared to the rest of the Dimensions community.

Fat Sexuality
Nothing like breaking the ice! This is usually the most popular topic of conversation at bashes, so we decided to address it right away. Be prepared for a frank discussion of positions, accessories, and fat- and non-fat-specific activities.

This Is How We Roll
How do you live large in a society that often seems like it isn’t designed for your needs? We’ll talk about asking for what you need in public, advocating for yourself in medical situations, and using simple tools to make your everyday life easier.

BHM/FFA Meetup
This mixer gives BHMs and FFAs a chance to meet face-to-face while discussing their unique role in the Dimensions community. Get to know the people behind the avatars!

Strategies for Health
Health issues such as sleep apnea, diabetes, lymphedema, or other chronic conditions can be challenging, but there’s no need to go it alone. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or you’ve been dealing with this stuff for years, come share your tips for taking care of yourself in a fat-positive way.

Don’t Settle: Knowing and Finding What You Want
In this group, we’ll tackle both men's and women’s issues with the realities of relationships in the fat world. Topics will include figuring out what you want from a relationship, maintaining your sense of self, identifying potential incompatibilities, and knowing it’s okay to walk away if it’s not right. Bring all suggestions and questions you may have and be ready for a wide range of opinions – this one applies to everyone, regardless of your current relationship status.

Stretch for Round Bodies
Lisa Breisch leads this afternoon opportunity to stretch out and relax, specifically tailored to larger bodies. Whether you need to calm down and center after lunch or warm up your muscles for dancing, this promises to be a fun time!

FA Meetup
This mixer gives those who love fat people a chance to talk amongst themselves about the challenges and rewards of being an FA. Topics of discussion will likely include the new FA/FFA forum, coming out to friends and family, having a non-mainstream preference, FA guilt, and maintaining composure in the candy store.

In the Middle
Ever feel like you’re too big for mainstream society but not big enough for the fat-loving world? If so, this group’s for you. We’ll talk about dealing with that in-between feeling, handling rude suggestions for “improvement” from both directions, and claiming our place in the fat community.

Supersized Perspectives (FA only) (Combined Group)
This is a workshop in two parts: for the first hour, supersized women and those who are in a relationship with a supersized woman (or want to be) will meet in two separate groups. We’ll talk about issues such as hygiene, mobility, medical care, and communication, from our own perspectives. We’ll try to compile a list of resources and tips for people in similar situations. In the second hour, the two groups will merge, and we’ll have a chance to ask the questions and share the concerns that arose during the first hour.

Love Your Body: HAES 101
Therapist Lisa Breisch presents this introduction to the concept of Health At Every Size, a weight-neutral approach to health and well-being that celebrates natural diversity in body size. Learn to love and care for your body as it is right now!

Ask a Fat Chick
Have a question that you’ve always wanted to ask a fat woman, but were too shy? Now’s your chance! This workshop gives men a chance to ask a panel of fat women the things they’ve always wondered about the opposite sex.

Ask an FA
And equal time for the women. A diverse panel of male FAs will address women’s questions from the guy’s perspective.

The Feeder/Feedee Lifestyle
Drop your preconceived notions at the door. For anyone who is living the lifestyle, has feeder/feedee fantasies, or is genuinely (and non-judgmentally) curious, a panel will answer questions and discuss the reality behind the feeder stereotype. Participants are expected to be respectful of people’s right to explore their fantasies and pursue consensual sexual activity.

Stretch and Shimmy
Lisa Breisch is at it again, only this time we’ll add some bellydance moves to the stretching!

GLBTQ Meetup
This mixer gives the queer community at Dims a chance to meet face-to-face. Topics of discussion will likely include the new GLBTQ forum and having more than one non-mainstream preference.
