A Tribute to Martin Gardner, 1914-2010
This may be a long way off topic for the board, but it is important to me and I want to share it.
I loved this guy in high school, reading every "Math. Games" column as soon as it was in the library. Among many other things, I learned how to play unbeatable NIM by using an under-the-table finger calculation. There are various published collections of his columns. One should be in the hands of every young person headed for a math or science career.
