As some of you will have noticed, I turned 51 yesterday. It wasn't something that I was looking forward to, simply because of the number.

Seeing I've been obese pretty well most of my life, I don't see me suddenly waking up tomorrow and finding I've lost 100 or so kilos. Which has kind of bummed me out today as I now face the cold hard fact, that my time on this earth is getting shorter and shorter.

To top my mood off perfectly today, I was listening to the radio at work when the announcer read out the fact that there's hardly any 'old' people alive who are obese. The fact is, most very obese people die when they are in their 40's, 50's & 60's. How many obese elderly people have you met or know who are over 60? I don't know any!

So what do I do? Diets don't work on me! I've been cutting back for some time now and yet my weight has hardly changed at all. Do I just keep living one day at a time, or what?

I sure am feeling down at the thought that being the person I am and always have been will take years from my life!

How depressing!!
