This is what a friend was debating with me.

I said that it was the very definition of altruism to help someone because it gives you the warm fuzzies and makes you feel like a better person.

They insisted that 'so-called acts of kindness' like that come from feelings of inadequacy and the need to get approval and validation from others.

What do you think?
