A Swedish obesity expert visiting Australia has branded lap banding a " Dinosaur technique"
He questions why upwards of 80% of WLS in Australia is gastric banding, when the world trend is the opposite, namely gastric bypass.
I have to concur on the band not really giving long term weight loss, however I will never have any other form of WLS. I do not want my internal gastro intestinal system cut and rearranged.
All forms of WLS have side effects, but the gastric bypass is largely not reversible, and people suffer really nasty side effects from it.
I understand each person chooses their own form of WLS, I would just never have a gastric bypass.
I have been thinking about having my band removed, but I will not opt for any other WLS.
If it comes out, that will be that.
