Sleeve gastrectomy is becoming a more popular weight loss surgery. People who undergo it lose about 40% of their extra weight. What are the short-term and long-term complications from having weight loss surgery?
There are risks with any surgical procedure. A person can die (if certain conditions arise) from getting stitches for a cut on their finger! Getting any surgery is risky but there should always be a balancing test between the risks and the rewards of getting said surgery. You will hear many people to tell you "Just be happy with your body" or "Self-acceptance is a way to your happiness" or some other pithy saying. But the bottom line is whether or not you are now and/or shall remain happy. You should do what YOU need to in order to be happy/healthy. What other people think is irrelevant. They aren't paying your bills, cleaning your house, or washing you back for you (and even if they did, it's still your decision).
