First of all I've decided to ask here rather than a pro-WLS site as I believe I'll get more honest and unbias answers.
I've just been for my first surgical consult today at the hospital and had some blood tests. It's all moving forward in a positive manner and has been a lot less of a battle than I expected. I've been told that I should get funding no problem and the hospital that does it is no more than 5 minutes drive from my house.
I'd been looking more into the band as the bypass seems a bit more drastic and it scares me a bit. The surgical consult thinks that the surgeon, would prefer to do the bypass on me because of my size and because he doesn't think the band works as well. I'm not going to be talked into anything I don't want to do but I will listen to the surgeons advice.
So the questions:
Can the bypass be done through keyhole surgery?
How long is it usual to be in hospital?
What is the recovery time?
Honestly, how bad is the pain?
How has it affected your life?
Please feel free to answer these questions if you've had the band too because I'd like to hear both sides.
