You know, people used to argue that "if they send the signal through my living room then they have no say if I tune in and watch it" when it came to those old pay television subscription services. People still say something similar when it comes to satellite transmissions and wifi transmissions. In a lot of places you technically aren't allowed to capture the water that falls on your land, like in say rain barrels, to use for gardening or car-washing or whatever. In Spain you aren't allowed to convert sunlight that falls on your home into electricity without paying taxes for the "privilege."
I once had a large aquarium in a room that got a lot of sunlight. I found that the water captured some of that sunlight as heat, keeping the temperature in the room higher during the colder nights. Maybe I should have been taxed for that.
As if Spaniards had not already been dissuaded by the potential 60 million fines they face for illegally generating their own solar power, they now have to look forward to a knock on the door from the 'solar police'.
A change to the ruling Popular Partys (PP) Energy Law allows inspectors to raid properties they are suspicious of, armed only with administrative authorization.
